2012 Santa Fe LED headlights low beams

I’m changing the bulbs over from stock to LED. High beams are great! The low beams are proving problematic. Low beams have the projector glass inside them. The light from the LED low beam is almost non existent. The regular fog lights produce better light at night. And I have tried a couple different manufacturers LED bulbs. I feel like I’m missing something… any ideas from people who have done this on their 2012 Santa Fe?

Most led headlights are adjustable and require aligning when installed. The problem is, most are sold from Chinese factories so the instructions are very vague. If you were to buy NA lights, they would probably be made in China but have NA made instructions that explain it better. Anyhow, there has always been an Allen hex screw on the side of the light so it can be rotated and the light can reflect properly. Have a look, I bet you can improve the lighting just by dialing them in a bit. Best of luck

Based on parts I could see on Rock Auto, your High beam assembly is a reflector, while your Low beam assembly is a projector. There are a few things to check:
  1. Forgetting the lens for a moment, are the LED bulbs themselves bright? If they're not bright in isolation, then it won't matter what else is happening with the lens.
  2. Are these LED bulbs for a projector headlamp assembly? The bulb needs to work in conjunction with the lens to properly project the light.
  3. Are your headlamps clear or foggy? As vehicles age, the clear plastic tends to change to a more milky foggy appearance due to micro-scratches on the surface. This will cut down on light leaving the headlamp. If that's your case, then there are ways to correct....
Once you get the brightness fixed, then both Low and High beams need to be properly adjusted, both vertical and horizontal aiming. Let us know what you find....

Compatibility: LED bulbs come in various designs and sizes, and not all of them are compatible with projector headlights. It's crucial to ensure that the LED bulbs you're using are specifically designed for projector headlights. They should have a proper beam pattern and be compatible with the Santa Fe's headlight housing.

Having the same issue with my 2012 Santa Fe. I’ve had it in the garage and all the wiring, fuses and bulbs have been tested and are ok. But the low beam housing is really dark and dim. We cannot drive at night without fog lights and as much full beam as possible. The mechanics think it’s an issue with a reflector (or projector) inside the sealed unit. Has anyone else solved this problem?
