Aftermarket Head Unit, Sonata Limited VS Standard

I have been fixated on the idea up removing the OEM Nav unit it my 2013 Sonata Limited and putting in an aftermarket unit. I have spoken to a couple different professionals and they seem to think the installation would be feasible until I mention the car has the OEM nav unit. Apparently there are some labor and cost prohibitive problems that seem to discourage the guys that say "we can upgrade any car!"

So here I am trying to get to the root of all this. Is it really impossible or just really difficult? I am electrical engineer who enjoys doing mods and I am not intimidated by big projects.

Let's start with a couple show stoppers that I am hoping someone could help me with.

1. Could an standard dash kit even fit over my console? The professionals can't say for sure but they look the same to me.

2. Secondly, those silly climate controls. Anyone who has compared the different sonata models would notice that the car trim changes the way the controls work. In my car the temperature knobs don't have numbers and all user feedback appears on the head unit. I think to make this work, I would need to find climate control units from a different trim so that they could actually have numbers on the knob. Would that even be feasible?

The list goes on but those can wait until after I know if these above issues are surmountable. What other problems do you see?

If you take a look around some have replaced with a tablet type system and it looks to work well and is very sleek.
