Do I need a memory saver when changing the battery?

is it necessary to use some kind of memory saver when changing the battery?
I dont mind losing radio stations or phone numbers which are easy to re-enter.

2013 Sonata GL 2.4L basic 35000kms
Thanks

It's not really necessary but using one might save you from a P0106 headache....

YF Sonata - Check Engine Light After Replacing Battery
YF Sonata - DTC P0106
YF Sonata - Engine Code P0106

I don't know if this is something that effects all Sonata engines though. Maybe @sbr711 can advise.

If everything is in order when car arrive running.... I prefer to just make battery swap with engine running...

You don't need no stinkin gadget. Your brain is your memory saver.

Best way to swap batteries is to have the new one ready to install. When you remove the old one you only use a minute or less till the new one is connected. This eliminates the need to perform idle relearn procedure on some vehicles when you disconnect the battery 1/2 hour or more.

Last time I changed the battery on our 2014 Santa Fe, no presets were lost.
