So I went shopping for some synthetic oil. Advance have the mobile 1 for 21 dollars so I wanted to check walmart to see what they have to offer. I originally plan on buying the Penzoil Platinum, but for $21 for a Mobile 1, I might as well go for it. Looking around, I saw the Penzoil Ultra for $28. I decide to continue browsing around and holy moly! Around the corner is a stack of ultra's priced for 20.50 which is the price for the Platinums. I knew they made a mistake in pricing this but the sneaky clever side of me decided to grab 3 and argue it if they ring up as 28. Sure enough the guy rang them up for $28 each. I immediately argue and showed him where the stack of oils are. He was not convinced and asked several sales personnel around and he was referred back to talk to the manager. He told me that if ever, I will only get 1 for $20.50 and the rest for $28. If that ends up the case, I was only gonna get one. He continued to argue with the manager (I don't think this guy really want to sell the oils to me at that price) The manager said that since I grabbed 3 off hand, She will give the price to me. If I went and grabbed more after it was discovered that the mistake was made, it would have been a different story. So low and behold, I got 3 of the 5 quart jugs for 20.50 each and was able to save $25 bucks for one of the most expensive oil available. :59: I should have gotten 12 of them, then I'll be set for 90,000 miles. Hopefully they will be on sale the next time I need oils again. Otherwise, I'm going back to the Platinum. I'm all set for my next 3 oil changes.

Good for you. Usually I try to buy something at Walmart and I find the price at the register is HIGHER than the shelf price. Sometimes I fuss and get the shelf price, but usually I just don't buy and leave hating Walmart a little more.

Normally I stay away from Wal-Mart when I can. But, when I can get 5 quarts in a jug at Wal-Mart for the price of 4 at the local auto parts store its a no brainer.

Normally I have to get Mobil 1 5W20 EP from Auto Zone, the local Advance Auto Parts has a horrid selection, Auto Zone have every oil in sight well stocked.

I can't believe how happy this seems to have made you! Congratulations on putting the hurt on big bad Walmart for, what, maybe $35 bucks. I mean how lucky is that. If I were you I would buy a few lottery tickets.

Personally, I wouldn't go to Walmart for any discount. The culture and ambiance just a huge turn-off.

SilverNitrate, I am glad that your buying experience makes you ecstatic.

The problem that I see now is that you have 7 jugs of oil sitting in your garage looking at you. You'd want to change oil every time you sees those jugs before it is time!!!

I'm surprised that the manager even tried to argue the price as he knows Wal-mart has a writen policy on any product sold in their stores that if the price rings up different from the shelf price you automatically get the lesser price or some % discount on all of those same items you have in your cart at the time of checkout. I once worked for a DC of Wal-mart and forgot all about it when I bought some shirts and they range up as 3x the price so I ended up with 4 shirts for just over the price of 1.
The fact that you brought this to their attention and then after the fact you found that they still had not corrected the problem goes to show you just how big and disconnected Wal-mart has become from when Sam was alive, cheers on your great deal man.

Love those types of deals. Our local grocery store (Dillons) has a policy if the item rings up wrong you get it free! So they had some Mach 5 razor refills with two different prices so I bought a pack of 20 and behold it rang up wrong so I got a 20 pack of free razors!!!!
