This guy tried to run me off the road Sunday. He came out around me then slammed on brakes right in front of me. I had to slam on mine to avoid hitting him. My car then lost power. It sounded like the battery died, but we jumped it off and still nothing. Just clicking when I turn the key. I have a 2012 Sonata.

Slamming brakes shouldn't be an issue

You have something else going on and need a pro to troubleshoot.

No it wasn't the starter after all. Had it tested...it's fine.
It was my starter. Thanks!

I would go through and clean all the main ground to the frame, engine and body.

Is this a no crank, no start??
Or is it a crank, no start??

Are we looking at the starter system?
Or are we looking at the engine for normal running conditions?

No crank, no start
Check your park/neutral safety switch?
Try cranking engine with gear selector in neutral.
If manual transmission then check clutch switch
Try swapping the starter relay
Cleaning grounds as grcauto said

Crank, no start
Back to basics, check spark, fuel, exhaust, timing, air, compression, etc

Good luck

it's a no crank; no start. tried all the above; believe it's something to do with battery. I just put in a 700cca battery and the motor tries to turn over but that's all. Wandering if I need a larger cca battery instead?

Knowing nothing about the condition of the engine, ...
Clean battery posts and cable terminals
And battery ground at chassis

Check all the fuses with test light
Fuse has two test points on top (if both test points light up the test light then fuse is good)

Try rotating the engine manually to see if the engine is seized
If not seized then try tapping the starter while trying to crank engine

If engine does crank but no start then try spraying some starter fluid into the throttle
Avoid spraying any where near the MAF sensor
If it tries to start then fuel system issue
Check for spark.

Just a thought, probably won't help, if this is a push to start button then check the brake switch

Tell us what you tested and the results. Not 'tested good'.

Tow it to the dealer, they will replace your engine under the Theta II settlement.

Sorry for your loss
It is strange to me how slamming on the brakes makes one's engine lock up???
Hope you can get it replaced under the Theta II settlement.
Goodluck

Your engine rod bearing were already worn and close to seizure. The shock of the sudden stop probably spun a bearing, locking or at minimum impeding crankshaft rotation.
