Figured I'd post this up to help with sizing your tires. Took me a bit to figure out what I wanted.

To get the same diameter as the factory 18s 225/45 18, I went with 215/55r17 WS70 Blizzaks with 17" rims.

215 55/17, diameter diff: +1.30% , speedometer will read slower than actual.

Original tire
Sidewall: 3.99 in
Radius: 12.99 in
Diameter: 25.97 in
Circumf: 81.59 in
Revs/mile: 776.52

New Tire
Sidewall: 4.66 in
Radius: 13.16 in
Diameter: 26.31 in
Circumf: 82.66 in
Revs/mile: 766.53

Speedometer reading with new tire is 1.30% too slow.
When your speedometer is reading 60mph you are actually traveling 60.77mph.

Here are the pics so that you can see what they look like on.

You'll just have to go to tirerack build yourself a package and input your zip code so shipping gets calculated.

For those that live in Canada , The total price was exactly $1525 in canuck dollars to the door, including taxes , shipping , duties . Tirerack includes it all in the final price so you don't have to worry about paying extra at the door.

Here in Wisconsin, we ran into our first major snow storm of the winter. I must say, I'm greatly disappointed in my 2.0t's snow performance. I have a set of 16" blizzaks. Do you think 16" rims would fit on the Sonata?

Going from 225 45/18 to a 16" rim you should go with a 215 60/16 tire.

Original tire (225 45/18)
Sidewall: 3.99 in
Radius: 12.99 in
Diameter: 25.97 in
Circumf: 81.59 in
Revs/mile: 776.52

New Tire (215 60/16)
Sidewall: 5.08 in
Radius: 13.08 in
Diameter: 26.16 in
Circumf: 82.18 in
Revs/mile: 771.03

diameter diff: +0.71%

This will help keep your speedometer as accurate as possible.

the GLS come stock with 16" rims. Tirerack's 'recommended' winter package for either limited/SE was a 16" set-up.

I've used discounttiredirect.com and had luck with that too, but even the cheapest set will be $850. There are plenty of used rims that fit the 5x114 bolt pattern and 46mm offset that can be found on craigslist. Worth a try. There's always someone selling their stock sonata 16 or 17 rims for under $300 and there are many sets of winter tires with 1 season of wear that can be had for half the cost of new tires.

I found 215/50/17's on craigslist. They were like new for $575. Nokian WR-H which I have used successfully in the past. I was stuck in the infamous DC snowstorm last year and these tires got me through. BUT they are V rated so they still handle really well compared to a true snow tire.

I think they look pretty sharp considering they are only for winter use.

Frizzo very nice

Did you happen to weigh the new wheel tire combo compared to the stock 18's?

I'm thinking of getting some blizzaks for the stock 18's and some lightweight 17 inchers for the summer, just curious how much weight I could save over stock.

I think performance and ride quality would improve significantly by getting rid of the heavy 18" wheels and tires.

I ended up getting 16x6.5 Momo Winter 2's with 215-60-16 Michelin X-ice xi2's from Discount Tire Direct. Total package was somewhere around $870 w/ free shipping and including lug nuts and hub rings.

Will post picture soon. I think they are a good compromise for the winter, they look ok, are narrow and have great snow tires. I did this on my last car and it greatly prolonged the life of my tires, I had a set of Toyo Proxes that lasted 7+ years by rotating on the winter/summer cycle.

Was that for a 2.0T car? I'm thinking not.

Based off his previous posts, yes, it is.

Also, what makes you think it's not on a 2.0T?
Because I've read that there are fitment issues with some suspension bushings on the 2.0T. I would hate to buy a 16" wheel set online only to find they don't fit. Then you are selling them for half price.

His car is a 2011 by the sounds of it. I'd like to see pictures of the wheels mounted and from the back.

This is what my stock setup looks like with the bushings I am referring to:

I read the same thing. Didn't make much sense to me as the base model comes with 16s and TireRack's Winter Preferred Package comes with 16s.
