Hi all,

There seems to be a few google results for clutch problems etc on the I20 model, but i'm not sure whether my problem is actually that bad.

Basically, I just bought a second hand I20 with ~30K miles on the clock, and I'm noticing that when you're at the biting point of the clutch in reverse it makes a low pitched whine / humming noise... Very occasionally it also does this going into third, but all the other gears are fine. Once fully engaged the noise stops it's just at the biting point.

I was wondering whether anyone else had noticed this and had it develop into a more concerning (expesive!) fault, or if it's just a quirk of the model, as I'm not sure whether to take it back to the dealer to complain....

Thanks very much for any help!!

I've got a brand new 6 month old i20 which started to develop the same noise.

Just back from the dealers who confirmed it’s a clutch plate known issue and will replace mine on Friday.

According to the mechanic it does not cause a clutch failure but the noise could get worse over time. Apparently this is the most work he has had to do on i20's.
