Pulled the plastic cover off the engine and searched all around, but cannot find a dipstick anywhere.

Anyone know how to check the trans. fluid on the 3.3 GDI?

As said, there's no ATF dipstick on the 6-speed automatic - it can, and should, be checked at the level/fill plug underneath.

"Lifetime fill" is a marketing term, not an engineering one - even the European Santa Fe's, with much longer fluid change intervals than North America, is scheduled for ATF replacement at 160,000 miles for normal duty use.

Darn... I was looking for an easy way to inspect my fluid over time. My dealer's service department likes to push ATF changes and I am less than confident that they have my best interests in mind.

At the same time, I am towing with my SF and want to watch the colour of the fluid over time so see if there is an appreciable change.

I guess I need to find the level/fill plug.

There is no fluid made that is actually "lifetime" fluid. I will probably change my tranny fluid at 60,000 miles if not sooner.
