Hi, all
I'm looking to buy 2001 XG300 non-runner.

Owner has only one key for the car. No remote fob. He says the car will not start. Timing belt is intact. Car will not crank (possibly bad starter). Owner said that before it would crank but not start.

I think 2 possibilities are:

1) Immobiliser is acting up
2) Crank sensor is bad

What are your thoughts?

there are many possibilities here, l would agree with your two ideas but until you can get the engine cranking over you are not going to fault find anything, a scan of the fault codes might well help as well.................l hope you are getting this car cheap it could turn out to be a can of worms

your taking a bit of a gamble at 600 if it does not start, o/k it may be something fairly minor but it could be expensive to put right
