Pleased to be part of this forum, thank you in advance! Writing from Sydney Australia. Own a 2016 i30. Literally the cliche one lady driver car, I purchased it secondhand with only 1000 km on the dial and one year old. Poor woman had been stripped of her drivers license due to poor eyesight and therefore couldn’t drive it any more.

I am going to ask a couple of questions one of which may suit somebody who is interested in VINS. Is there anyone who would like to decode
my VIN? I have trawled through countless sites and still don’t have a difinitive snap shot of my car! The VIN is KMHD251EMHU332366. As I say I have visited 10s and 10s of sites that show which digit is which however this is for the person who would enjoy breaking this down and interpretation each digit. Thanks in advance! ?

I'm sure there are websites out there that can automatically decode a cars VIN, but from the workshop manual yours decodes as :

KMH = Manufacturer ID (Hyundai Passenger Car)
D = Model Code (i30/Elantra)
2 = Model Series Code (GL in your case)
5 = Number of Doors (4 door hatchback)
1 - SRS Code (Driver + Passenger Airbags with Belt Pretensioners)
E - Engine Code (1.8 MPi)
M - Steering Wheel Location & Transmission Code (RHD, Auto in your case)
H - Year of Manufacture (Oddly, 2017)
U - Manufacturing Plant (Ulsan, Korea)
Last 6 digits are the production serial number.
