I have been interested in upgrading my factory radio to be XM capable. Would it work if I installed wiring, roof antenna etc. from another Elantra? If so what else would I need for it to work?

No it won't work. The actual XM receiver is built into the OEM headunit, so the wiring/antenna will do nothing for you---- you'd have nowhere to plug it in.

Your options are 1) Change out your unit to one with XM, 2) use a satellite radio car kit that connects to your existing radio IF you have an AUX input.

Well THAT'S disheartening news. I was planning on upgrading my head unit with the assumption that the XM receiver was a stand-alone unit stuffed up inside the dash.
