I'm sure there is a good reason the plastic engine splash shield is on the 2006 to 2011 Accent.
Yet when doing my oil change and removing the oil filter it seems the only way to not make an oil spill mess is to remove the splash shield.
This is one reason the Accent gets Synthetic Oil changes as I can prolong the time interval.

Has anyone found a work around to this?

Five bolts & it's off. No problem.

Yes pretty easy and if you want don't remove the far drivers side one, just loosen and you can pivot the plastic shield out of the way. But you should use some anti seize or oil on the bolts as they are self cutters and may get jammed due to rust.

I use synthetic and change at 7500 miles. But I also use a Fram Ultra filter and it stays in for two oil changes. So the plastic shield only comes off every 15k miles or so.
