We tow with our 2005 diesel Automatic Tucson.

It is a 1450kg caravan and most of the time no problems, that is until we went up a very long 1:4 grade hill and smelt burning.

To say the least not good and it's turned the oil a light shade of brown.

There is no problem with the gearbox as I see it it shifts through the range without problems, but it needs an oil flush and I will do that myself.

It obviously needs an oil cooler there is a kit offered by Hyundai and I wondered if anyone has installed one?

I have found a supplier of SPIII oil at Millers Oils has anyone tried it?

Replying to my own post here a bit sad.

I now have the SP III ATF and have bought a genuine Hyundai oil cooler.

Had a local guy look at the space for an after mkt oil cooler and he reckoned it was a bit tight.

Am going to fit it myself, hopefully it won't be too hard and i'm assuming it goes on the outside of the Radiator (some go on the inside)

So bumper off.

Any advice welcome........

I've done this on several other vehicles so I'm not entirely a virgin oil cooler fitter.

Well the auto gearbox oil is changed turned out to be an easy job as when I'd taken the cover off (also easy as it turned out) low and behold an identical oil cooler to the new one I had ordered and whats more no room to install a second one.

I had taken a really close look and was sure that the pipes from the gearbox went into the radiator, It is in fact tucked neatly under the bumper cover and the manual told me that a 2.0 had no separate oil cooler (petrol model I guess).

But no !

Now I have two problems I wanted to return the oil cooler for a refund but they won't take it back and apparently the dealer will be charged £85 to send it back.

And I have to get another tow car as there is no way I'm using this auto Tucson to do it.

Marvelous !
