Hi everyone

Owner of a brand new Tucson SE NAV 2015 onwards model, purchased last year 2017.

Looking to add roof bars and box for a holiday but struggling to remove the cover caps on the flush rails to reveal the pre determined fixing points for screw in roof bars.

Is there a special nack to this? Tried using an allen key to get underneath and push up but no joy, and this just started to mark the cap and rail itself so didn’t want to continue to heavily.

Any suggestions or tips would be much appreciated!

Thanks

You need to get crossbars for "flush rails" - those "fixing points" are actually where the rails are secured to the roof.

For example, Thule sells this "fit kit" for Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage to use with their universal bars and feet.

Thanks for your reply

Do do screw down roof bars not work with the Tucson? It appears on the Thule website that 753 ones are compatible and they look like they screw through?

Or do you need the ones that clamp the flush rails and don't screw down?

Thule 753 is their standard "feet" or "podiums". They require fit kits to adapt to different cars - there are fit kits for fixed points such as you can find on sedans or hatchbacks, there are also fit kits for full rails (the ones that are not stuck to the roof such as the previous generation Tucson JM).

Here are some other roof rails that work with Tucson's flush rails (including the panoramic roof). Mind you, these are available in Europe, not sure about your location:
Green Valley: Quick CC
Menabo: Tiger XL, Leopard XL, Lince XL
Hakr: HK6 + 343
Farad: Alu120 bar + BM6 "feet"
Hyundai OEM (D7211): ADE00AL are the variety here but other markets have other "second part of the part number", here's a link and fitting instructions are on the page.
