I have been looking Nationwide to buy a 2015 Sonata Limited 2.4L with no more than 31,000 miles. It has become apparent to me AZ is not where I will be purchasing. I live in AZ unfortunately the resale here is between 2-3,000 higher and more miles than in Las Vegas, CA and FL.

I have tried to find more information regarding Timing Belt vs. Timing Chain. Due to price I'm considering a 2013 or 2014. The online comments are the 2013 is very noisy and I want to know what years have Chain vs Belt for the 2013/2014/2015 Sonata Limited 2.4L.

I currently drive a XG350 and I believe it's a Belt rather than Chain but I'm not sure.

This has become more than what I currently want to deal with but this is how I was lead to this forum.

I guess I have to go to the correct Thread to find out the information I'm looking for.....

The 2011-2014 2.0L Turbo and 2.4L engines have a timing chain.

Car Gurus has at least 6 in Southern Calif under 40,000 miles with and without CPO $15,000-17,000, there are 9 listed in Phoenix for $16,000 - 17,000 with under 31,000 miles and Car max (always a little more expensive) has 30 listed between Calif and Phoenix

The body change to the LF model was 2015 to present , the previous YF were 2014 -2011 and are a different body style all 2.4 have a timing chain. The YF Had the engine problems but Hyundai has been good about replacing them as long as basic maintenance was performed even on cars with over 100,000 miles. . Recently we had a couple 2015 have the engine replaced under warranty as well
