I have an 01 and 02 santa f.ok i took the v6 out of 01-and put in the 02.put new gaskets on engine new timming belt ect.got engine in and runs like a champ. But the tranny which looks new i assume its been replaced.it starts out in 2 or 3 all the time want shift into od.reverse works.so i found one plug dangling i couldnt fifgure out where it went then i found it.it plugged up on top of tranny.well know it starts out in first and shifts through all the gears.drove it down the rd shifted fine.turned around and put in reverse then when i went to drive it jerked real hard.shifted out fine so i went to floor it to make it kick down and it jerked again.this time it was hung in 3 or drive cause when ipulled into my driveway it was in high gear and u can put it in manual mode and the light only goes to second and d when it acts up like this.so i killed the car started back up and know it will go into first in manual mode and shift out and do fine?so i called it a day.and im here now. Lol so has anyone had problems like this?

Any success in diagnosing your problem exactly? We are ice-hole deep in ass right now and our 2001 Santa Fe (v-6 AWD) began lurching, requiring revving to move When shifted from the automatic to the manual gate, says the vehicle is in 3rd. Shifting the manual side CHANGES NOTHING, until you get to neutral or reverse, but NO forward gear(s) are indicated except 3. We were on our way to dinner tonight. The Santa Fe HAD reverse when we pulled in to park (struggling from a 3rd gear only shift position), but when we had finished our dinner, the Santa Fe would not move backward either. A little revving of the engine seemed to make it do a VERY little. Someone PLEASE tell me this is output/input/shift speed, or some other FREAKING sensor. My wife drives 75 miles per day in this arctic scrotum freeze and I need to fix her problem here...with the swiftness.
