Can't speak for the transmission... For the timing belt, I recently paid $372 for my '06 to replace the timing belt and all drive belts. $300 sounds pretty fair to me. Are they also doing the water pump? If you are getting the timing belt, all drive belts and water pump for that price it would be especially sweet.
I'm not sure if the water pump was included or not, I'll have to inquire about that. Yeah $300 sounds pretty fair to me, I think I'll have to wait till my next check to do that though. $372 isn't that bad either though for your repair either. I just had a lot of my belts replaced on my car, I had the serpentine belt done, altenator belt and I can't remember what the third belt was but I had them all done for $70 labor and since I paid $50 bucks for the part then I think it was a pretty good deal. It stopped the annoying squeaking that I had in my car.
As for the transmission wow! $1508 bucks, that's definitely going to have to wait. I'm going to have to shop around on the price for that.
My car has it's little quirks here and there but, I have to get them all fixed before I give the car to my fiance. It's still a great car though. I can stick $20 bucks in it and go 200 miles so I'm not really complaining. I'm thinking of getting another Hyundai for myself, I never new I'd enjoy this type of car so much.
Thanks for the advice and tips, if there are any more suggestions for pricing I'd love to hear them.
