Hi
Anybody installed ATF temp gauge to monitor the tranny fluid temperature of a Sonata?
I have the 2009 Sonata GL.

thx
Why would you really even want to? In the 2011 Models they have even removed the dipstick. No way to check the fluid!

Seriously, that seems like a step backward as I like being able to check the ATF myself. My Saturn had no dipstick, the only way to check the ATF level was raise vehicle level to ground, remove plug and run engine with AT in gear and peer inside plug hole. Around 100K or so, I had to replace the transmission pan due to a small leak, the shop forgot to add ATF back to replace fluid lost when pan was removed. After that, the tranny would slip on u-turns and on very cold days not even engage. I told shop it seemed to be low on fluid, they said more likely tranny going bad. Finally went to a tranny shop which put in 4 quarts of ATF and voila problems solved. Needless to say shop is not doing ATF changes for me anymore. Had I an ATF dipstick, none of that would have happened, a simple check would have proven to shop I was right and they were wrong. I was very lucky tranny did not suffer any damage while it was low on fluid.

Just get you 1 of these, and you can monitor all kinds of fun stuff, and much more ---

I bet that would be a blast... especially if you could route the picture to the GPS screen instead of having to
haul a laptop around.

You can even change steering ratio with a scan tool (and probably other steering parameters) on the 2011's.

A ScanGauge II will give you a transmission temperature reading on some makes/models, but wouldn't ya know - no Hyundais support this feature.

I think the ScanGauge II support this tranny temp function. The Hyundai OBD connector have a tranny temp output? Canadian Tire may have it instock.
To get ATF temp from the TCM, you need to be able to access the data stream in the TCM..
