I have a question about 2.4L Sonata with 6 speed automatic trans

Does the torque converter lock in the 4th gear? or what is the lowest gear it can it lock … 3rd gear?

we have a Tuscon (2.4L gdi 6 speed auto AWD) and can sense from rpm changes that it is locking in 5th and 6th but I can't tell if it locks in the 4th or 3rd gear ... I could be wrong altogether since I don't drive this car that often.

The Tuscon forum is pretty slow and I am assuming there are a lot of similarities between Tuscon and Sonata 2.4L/6spd auto. Even if not similar, knowing what sonata does will help.

Thanks

Probably the best way to tell is with some sort of OBDII scanner that is looking at the TC lockup PID. The RPM changes can be hard to notice.

If you can select a gear and keep it there such as 3rd, 4th then maybe with some slow acceleration you can see it with rpm.
