can anybody tell me how much to change the timing belt on a 1.3 05gsi, not sure whether to go to the dealer but dont want my eyes taken out .

How about your right arm? I'd shop around for a reputable repair shop. Around here it's from $200 to $1000 depending on who does it and what parts they replace.

in the uk you should be able to get you belt changed at an independent garage for around £100-£130 but a main dealer would likely charge more, also if you have the pulleys and water pump changed at the same time it will obviously cast you more
