I plan on replacing the timing belt and waterpump soon. Doing a little recon I took off the upper cover and looked around. I noticed on the camshaft sprocket there is the word "UP", but around the sprocket theres 2 'notches' (exactly across from each other).

I bought the car at 58,000km and im at 114,000km now, so im sure its the original belt.

My question is which ones do i use to time the engine properly?

PS. Im aware im overdue for this. I've spent the last year working on our 2 cars so I would be confident enough to do this. $140 in parts sounds a lot better than the $800 I was quoted for the job.

Thanks!

The answer is you set the crank sprocket to TDC and the cam sprocket you set by looking through the hole in the sprocket at the marks on the head, as shown in the diagram.
