Hi all,

I am new to the forum and looking at purchasing my first Hyundai. I am looking at the IX35. I am not sure if to go for the diesel or petrol version. I plan on keeping the car until it starts giving major issues. Hoping to get 200,000km out of it. Is there anything I should know about them? Those of you who own them, what has your personal experience been with it? Is diesel worth the extra purchase price over petrol?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Bill.

In WA diesel stays around $1.60 a litre while unleaded bounces around the $1.40 mark, so that factors into economy a bit. The torque power of the diesel is the main draw card for buying a diesel motor. 392 Nm for the 2.0 diesel versus 240 Nm for the 2.4 petrol and around 7 litres per 100 km. (The Santa Fe 2.2 diesel is 436 Nm)
