Temp Gauge Not Working But Neither Are Fans...

Ok, I have been researching all day online... I need help... I will try to include all info that I have...

2002 Hyundai Elantra. (I just got her) 240, 000 miles...
My temp guage on dash doesn't move. I let the car idle for 30 min and nothing....
The fans (near radiator) do not come on... with or w/o AC neither of them move...
My heat works inside car. AC does not, blows out warm...

I don't know if I need a new guage, thermostat, fan relay, or all of the above....

Any ideas?

**BTW, I checked fuses, they all look good.

If your gauge isn't working, I'd try the thermostat first.

If it's a two-wire thermostat, you might be able to bridge the wires and force the fans to come on. I've done this on a civic- not sure how well it applies on an elantra- so you're taking your chances if you try this.

Also, check the electrical connector that plugs into the fans- these tend do get brittle and the little clips that hold them in place break off.
