Ok so I read this topic on a forum on Edmunds.com this guy writes in and says that his suspension totally quieted down after having his Sonata loaded down with some bags of cement or something like that plus a couple passengers and going over a bunch of speedbumps, then he goes on to say that he expected the suspension to be noisy again after being unloaded but was surprised to find out that it stayed quiet, well I was skeptical and kind of just wrote it off. That was probably about four months ago, well the other day my car was loaded down with some stuff in the trunk and I ended up going over a bunch of speed bumps and a couple were pretty high and really worked the suspension well long story short my Sonata is much quieter and more pleasant to drive now. Mine wasnt overly noisy over bumps at slow speeds but there was a faint k-thunk that was heard though and now it is gone. Call me crazy but its like a different car!

My 2006 I have never heard any noise. Only thing i ever hear is when the tank is full fuel will slosh around.

I had rear suspension noise on my 06, and the TSB knocked it down ~50%. Still a little noisy. If you're
not listening for it, you won't hear it loud enough annoy you. I never once heard the gas slosh. I guess
you need good high frequency hearing to notice it, so that rules me out.

Oh the Slosh is quite pronounced, yet I never had the K-Thunk noise, but I do hear a slight 'Glug'

which I think is the dual exhaust pipe. I thought by 09 the K-Thunk was history, but similar to the

OCS System problems, Hyundai has been plagued with Suspension noise problems. The 2011 owners

are complaining now.

This guy that wrote it was me.... And yep, my Sonata is perfect now. It used to be like a noisy wooden horse before, and i really regretted buying it, but now it's a perfect car. Good to hear others have had the same happen to them.

The K-Thunk issue was only detected in the early, 2006 -07 and only the V6 Sonatas... It was a big issue with lots of complaints. But I don't remember any I4 owner ever complaining about it.

So, is that famous k-thunk sounds loud or not? When I go over a bump - the sound is simply deafening and whole car body shudders violently. It feels like nothing protects it - no springs or shocks installed. Weird. Well, my lease ends in October, so I guess, no big deal now.

I don't think what you're describing here has anything to do with that K-Thunk sound. You better check your tires' pressure, I suspect you could lower it quite a bit..... Or have you compared the way your Sonata reacts to those bumps to other cars' behavior, over the same bumps?..... You should compare yours to the Accord, or even worse yet, to some Volvos....
