Sunglass Holder

Well the first thing to brake on my three-day-old Santa Fe SE, is the sunglass holder above the rear view mirror, it will not retract. I called my dealer who ordered the part sight unseen and will have it ready when I bring it in. I hope that’s the only thing that goes wrong with it. Is this a common problem for anyone else?

Welcome to the forum TFlight,

I had a 2005 Santa FE & now a 2009, both with sunglass holder. I haven't had a problem with them. Could be just a fluke on your end.
I have been reading this forum since 2005 & don't remember seeing anything about this problem.
As long as its in warranty I wouldn't worry.
I have had very little problems.

Enjoy your Santy

Bruce
Haven't had any problem with my 09, other than it's not really usable for a sunglasses holder, that space (and anything in it) gets VERY hot on a sunny day.

Just happened to my '08 at 34k. It would appear they have to replace the whole light assembly when that happens.
It's so odd that my '04 had what felt like the flimsiest sunglasses holder and it lasted like a rock for six years, despite me hitting it out of anger (not related to the car) several times. I have to say the holder in my '10 seems kind of finicky at times but as long as it keeps working, I'll be happy.

The only problem that iv had with the sun glasses holders in my 07 Sante Fe is that my sun glasses dont fit in them!! So no problems other then that as of yet!!
Il swap your broken sun glasses holder and you can have my expensive broken fly wheel!! :(
Have the same issue with our Sunglass holder. It use to retract but now its stuck in the closed position. Any DIY remedies or perhaps dealer part #?
Bump! Does anyone know how i can open the sunglass holder without breaking it? It's been 2 years since I last posted and it still shut closed!
You got an inhabitant holding up up if it don't pop down. Press, up and it pops down on its own. Simple
A couple of days ago I found that my holder would not open, no mater how many times a pushed it up. Eventually it opened a little bit and I could get a pair of tweezers in. There was a bit of fine monofilament mesh in there. I have no clue as to how it got there( grand kids or " she who must be obeyed") Anyhow it had wound it self over a spring loaded retainer on the drivers side, and once I managed to pick it all out it opened right up and works fine now. I don't know if there is more then one retainer, but maybe have a look on the driver's side and see if it is broken.
