I've been having trouble starting my car over the last week. Sometimes when I pressed the engine start button I had no response of any kind other than the dashboard lights. Eventually after a few tries the car started. I thought that it might be the FOB battery so I put a new one in and everything was fine for a few days.

Today the car would not start. Had it towed to a local shop with a good reputation that I use. They believe that it is a bad starter but that has not been confirmed yet. So is this just crap luck that the starter went on me or is it an indication of an engine failure problem? And is the starter covered under warranty or is that considered a regular maintenance item?

Starter under warranty? Not unless your SF is a 2020. Engine problem, NO.

Thanks for reply. I actually thought that limited warranty was 7 years but since my post I looked it up and I guess it is 5 years which I am past so it would not be covered.
