This is similar to the technology the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid (HSH) had before the update. We lost the ability to shut off the engine when going into N for the glide but now it continues to charge the battery. For Wayne Gerdes this was a very big deal but for us it didn't mean much of a change in mpg. If this was implemented in our cars everyone could be a hypermiler without much effort and get even better fuel economy.
