Were the wires on the crank sensor all frayed and exposed copper ?? If so, you need to hit all the fuses with a DVOM and verify source voltage on both legs of the fuse (can probe top of fuse)... those with exposed wires will short to ground and pop fuse,,, you can grind it all you want, but without power to 1 portion of PCM, it wont start --> been there.

If I remember correct, problem fuse will be found in the engine compartment fuse block. You should find 1 with voltage on one side of fuse, and "0" on other side of fuse..
