hardly a gas-guzzler, my Smart Car was getting about 35 average - just a little more than my Sonata. However, I too was tired of paying for premium. It was also getting more difficult in tying the kids to the top of the car with duct tape.

I still have my gas guzzler (01 4runner that gets 13-15mpg at most) :D

and why are ppl complaining about premium? It's only what $3.00 more per fillup??? I mean realllllllllllllllly..... (4 out of 5 of my cars need premium and I only use Shell VPower)
My old 07 Pontiac Solstic GXP would definately NOT run on regular - the engine light would come on and it would knock up a storm...and then just quit running. Most of this precision tuned engines won't do it, compared to the old days when you could get away with it with a little knocking. 10 years ago, I had an XJ6 that knocked severely with regular but ran, My 06 Mini would not run on it either....so with the Smart Car - I didn't even want to try.

besides, when paying that much for a vehicle, I normally want to use what the manufacturer recommends or risk the warrantee, future repairs (fouled plugs, other damage), etc.

There is also a difference too if the manufacturer indicates "only" or the use of the word "recommends".
