The "premium gas only" in most luxury and sport vehicle is one big hoax. Most modern engines with computer controlled advance knock sensors and engine management can easily run on regular unleaded. Sure you get slightly lower MPG and a few less HP. But it absolutely doesn't do irrepairable engine damage.
In my wife's Navigator, with a 26 gallon tank, the difference between regular and premium 25-35 cents comes out to $8-9 per fillup. 2 fillups per week X 52 weeks is more than $900 a year!
It adds up, trust me I know.
I still have my gas guzzler (01 4runner that gets 13-15mpg at most)
and why are ppl complaining about premium? It's only what $3.00 more per fillup??? I mean realllllllllllllllly..... (4 out of 5 of my cars need premium and I only use Shell VPower)
