I don't know about diesel cars in Europe, but here in Canada they are nothing but trouble if all you drive is urban.

Short-distance urban driving does not provide sufficient opportunities for regeneration of the particulate filter. That and EGR problems that lead of all kinds of delete jobs.

Trying to make diesel "cleaner" by adding all these things (regen/particulate filter, EGR, DEF...) just makes diesel engines more costly and problematic to own.

How true, they're even doing it on tractors that's why mine is 40 years old, still running strong. I see no need to replace it with a modern one with all this additional crap on it.
