Greetings all,
When the engine is started a safety warning appears on the screen . . .
Drive safely and obey traffic rules . . .etc, etc.
I've only had my new Santa Fe for 1 day and already this message is old news - and annoying.
Does anyone know how to get rid of it?
Thanks much,
Keith

Best practices for requesting help:If you haven't done so fill in your vehicle info and profile page. At upper right corner under the search box click on user cp (it's your control panel)
This info will show up to the left under your user name and is very helpful.

  • Be sure you are in the correct forum for your vehicle.
  • Do a search for your problem. A lot of stuff has been asked and answered.
  • Do not double post for the same problem.
  • Give the model year....Engine size...transmission type (auto or standard)
  • Take a single issue at a time. Posting multiple issues at once will get convoluted very quickly
  • VIN number can be very helpful
  • Vehicle history can be good. How many miles. If not bought new, how many have you put on it.
  • Describe the problem best you can. If a noise can you get a sound or video file
  • Tell us what has been done, if anything, thus far. If tests have been performed give actual results not OK or passed. If scanned for codes the actual code(s) not O2 sensor or MAF, Etc.
  • If the vehicle has been to a repair facility it would be nice if you could post a picture of that invoice/bill
  • If your vehicle is under warranty you should have the dealer check it out. If it's a problem they see many times they will generate a safety recall of TSB. This is how they know of the problem.

This information can save a lot of time and get you the answers you need much faster.

Thanks,
Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the land of lawyers, aka America. All touchscreen or interactive screens (knobs, etc) have had that message for years across car companies. That way if you crash into a tree because you were looking at the screen the car company can't be blamed. Just hit ok or wait for it to clear, no way around it.

Mine will auto-clear the message when CarPlay engages, otherwise I believe it auto-clears after a few minutes

It only takes a few seconds to “auto-clear.” By the time you are moving forward it disappears.

Mine will never auto-clear. I did read on this forum that if I were to update mapnsoft, that it would then auto-clear but $300 CDN is a lot to pay for that feature only to replace one annoyance with another. I assume after the disclaimer cleared, that I would be faced with a nav map and not be able to choose a different default screen such as the analog clock face.

The only upside I see is that I would not have to agree to the disclaimer in order to use my phone hands-free feature.

You have a ‘14, not a ‘19, right? Why are you here? My ‘’14 Santa Fe doesn’t auto-clear either. Times change. Dispose of your ‘14 and your problems are over. :nerd:

I'm here to say that if it isn't one annoyance, then it will be another. I doubt that trading up to a '19 would let me set the clock face as the default screen either.

When you shop for a new vehicle, there are features that you overlook or assume can be changed only to find that not to be the case.

This thread showcases what is termed UX/UI (User eXperience/User Interface) design and I would hope that Hyundai engineers have something positive to take away from it. The following while not specific to the auto industry does go into some detail of both.
https://careerfoundry.com/en/blog/ux-design/the-difference-between-ux-and-ui-design-a-laymans-guide/

Some companies such as Apple go to great lengths to provide a pleasurable UX as do others. Some very minor annoyances such as the OP's case grow old pretty quickly. Another example I'd like to give is my microwave.

There is/was a brand of microwave oven that had a very smart UX designer that thought through to ensure that the rotating platter always stopped in the same position it started. That meant the handle of your coffee cup was where it needed to be. Now, this is not something that would be printed on their brochure or something you might look for when shopping but is a pleasant feature none the less. You might never miss what you never had but if you had the pleasure of having such a feature, one sure does get annoyed to not have it on other microwaves.

Anyway... I'll get off my soapbox now.

I don't believe that because I live in AZ and Every time the car is started there is a safety message on the radio/head unit.

Guess what...you're right and I'm wrong. There is a message on the center display. I misunderstood it to be a message on the display that has the gauges and speedometer. That display comes up with its own messages, such as put your hands back on the steering wheel, etc. Once with the electronic brake engaged I got out of the car to get the mail, got back in and didn't fasten my seat belt. When I put the trans in Drive a message popped up and said to put on my seat belt in order for the brake to release. I have seen others as well. The message on the center display is a generic message that most ignore, including myself.
My bad...sorry. :crying2:
