I mentioned at my last visit to the dealer that I noticed the black tape around the windows was peeling on both front doors. They considered it a defect and ordered new black tape.

I brought it in today and literally spent all day there. The procedure took 3 hours which they did warn me about. They said it was very tricky to get it right; I told them to take their time so it is done right.

After it was done, I left the dealer and went out to lunch.

While just about to head home (40 minutes way), I looked at the doors carefully.

I gave the passenger side a passing grade, but check out how driver side came out.

Also, note the weatherstripping was removed to facilitate the process of removal/re-applying the tape apparently and the rubber tabs that hold it to the door are now gone (from BOTH doors)?

Comments?

These are photos of the driver side; sorry about the lack of focus in the pictures. In the third picture, you can see where the tape is missing/cut from the top edge of the window.

There are bubbles in the tape as well in various places.

I would advise against doing this procedure; electrical tape is a better option to cover where the tape is peeling!

I think it's a 45 min job.

In my case, they are going to re-do the tape on the driver side and replace the weatherstripping on both doors.

I kind of wish they never attempted it and just told me it's not worth it.

What stuff has to be removed?
