Hi
It seems our 2005 Tucson 2.7 needs a new fuel pump or so we are told by our local Hyundai dealer. We purchased the vehicle preowned and it has 75000 miles. This is a very nice vehicle. My question is should we go with the lesser priced after market fuel pump which cost about half the price of a genuine Hyundai fuel pump ($400 plus labor) or is it necessary to buy the genuine part, the manual states that other parts may affect the emissions system. Any suggestions.

the aftermarket fuel pump will not affect emissions. they like to say those things to get you to buy OEM parts. more money for the manufacturer.

consider this: pump supplies fuel at a set flow rate and pressure to the fuel rail...where's emissions in this? the pump characteristics SHOULD be a spec followed by the aftermarket manufacturer. if they don't, it's a faulty design.

now considering quality....well get a good aftermarket pump.
