G'Day,

I am trying to replace my rear brake pads for my 1999 Coupe, the rear calipers have the handbrake actualtor built in, what i s the correct way to compress the piston back in since the new pads are thicker than the old ones.

I have heard that the rear calipers with the hand brake actuator on the back
they need have the piston turned while being depressed back into the caliper
Auto parts stores do sell something to aid in this

I have drums in the back so I don't know for certain

Problem may be solved by now but yes, rotate them clockwise while pushing and they'll slide back in.
Same principle as used on my Sonata (and my Renault R30TX back in ye olde days ...)
