Does anyone know the secret to re-programming the keyless entry on
Sonata. Both of my fobs stopped working on the same day and batteries
aren't the issue. I have searched the web for this info and can't
find anything. I will take it to the dealer if I cannot do this myself,
but that is highly inconvenient for me.
Thanx, in advance for your replies.

hello friend....
while going through this forum i found that many people are having problems with keyless remote.I searched a loton the net on google search and had found the solution for your problem...
PROGRAMMING A NEW TRANSMITTER
You can program up to 4 transmitter codes into controller memory. The four codes may be the same or
different. if you try to program a 5th code, the oldest code will be cleared automatically.
1) Confirm that all doors are closed and the ignition key is out of
the ignition cylinder.
2) Open the driver’s door. Insert the ignition key into the ignition
key cylinder and turn ignition switch to ON position within 10
seconds.
3) Turn the ignition switch to OFF position and remove the ignition
key from the ignition key cylinder within 10 seconds.
4) Push and release the driver’s door switch 3 times within 20
seconds.
5) Insert the ignition key into the ignition key cylinder and turn i
ignition switch to ON position within 10seconds.
6) Turn the ignition switch to OFF position and remove the ignition
key from the ignition key cylinder within 10 seconds.
7) Press the “UNLOCK” buttons on the transmitter one time within
20 secionds after step 6. All the doors will lock/unlock to confirm
that this procedure has been properly done. With this process,
the transmitter has been programmed.
8) If you want to program the additional transmitter, repeat the
procedure from step 1 through step 7.
9) Make sure that the keyless entry system properly operates by
operating each transmitter.
i think by doing this step by step you can reprogramme your keyless entry.
good luck

I tried the steps suggested above and nothing happened. I heard a click from the center console after I pressed the door switch the third time. Then I heard the same click about 20 seconds after finishing the procedure.

I checked the hmaservice.com web site for the official Hyundai procedure. There it said there is a switch on the receiver that has to be flipped from off to set in order to reprogram it for a new transmitter. In order to flip that switch one has to take the center console off (ie. stereo, a/c switches, etc.). That site also gives the procedure with a Hi-scan diagnostic device that the dealer would use.

Is there any way for me to reprogram my remotes myself, without taking off the center console, or am I stuck going to the dealership?

What year do you have? The above procedure only works with early models.
I have an o3 and there is a box behind the center console with a small switch on the side.
1. Switch the ignition on
2. Set switch to on with in 5 seconds.
3. Press remote lock button on both transmitters
4. Set switch to off
5. Turn ignition off

This worked on my on sonata with a new transmitter i bought on eBay.
Good luck

If it has an ETAC unit it may have a keyless lever switch on the side of it which you switch to off. Press the unlock button on all your transmitters . Then turn the lever switch to on. Then try your transmitters to see if they work
