I was quite bored today and spent some time on this forum for some answers on many things for my 2015 Accent and really couldn't find what I needed.
So I did some research, 8 hours worth, and made some discoveries about the RB Accent and 3rd gen Kia Rio.
I'm not sure how far any on this forum have gone with this but here are some of the details I discovered which may give us some hope for our Accents for some parts.

First the Kia Rio and Accent share about the same weight, length, height, width, fuel capacity, and you get the idea.
Since I could not find a thing on lowering springs for the RB Accent I went deep.
I first went to the Kia OEM parts websites and dug into their springs, mounts, perches, and anything that would compare to the Accent.
Ironically they're all the same thing even down to the part numbers although Kia uses a different last 4 digits to differentiate their items from the Accent.

An example would be the springs have the same OEM part number on both the Kia Rio and Accent with no differences. The struts are identical with both the OEM and RockAuto parts being identical for both so that means they're interchangeable and exactly the same.
Even the calipers and rotors are the same for both cars including the rear discs for both the Kia Rio and Accent rear rotors. The only difference is that some of the Accents have drums for the rear while others have the discs. The Kia Rio's are all disc in the rear being the only difference but the rear rotors and calipers are identical in every way between the two cars.

The struts for the front are identical for the Rio and Accent and the shocks are too.

So basically what I'm trying to say is that any spring that will fit that 2012-2016 Rio will also fit the Accent and I am going to be one that will be making a purchase on these because I've got enough confidence with this research that I'm confident that they'll be a perfect fit.
With the weight of the two cars being about the same there should be little to no difference in the way the Accent will look when installed.

On another note I checked with the AEM cold air intake # 21-715C for the Veloster will also fit our Accents and sent an Email to AEM stating this so that they can do some test fitting of the intake to make 100% sure it fits and possibly market the product to the Accent users, not just for the Velosters.
Again, I did the research on the comparison of the Veloster OEM parts to the Accent OEM parts and they're identical in every respect so in theory should fit perfectly just like the Injen intake fits for now both the Accent and Veloster. Injen now has the Accent listed for the cai that was once only sold to the Veloster.

OEM parts don't lie on whether something is going to fit or not so I trust this information enough to consider it to be good.
I've seen posts on here where people were worried about fit and whether it will work for the springs because I feel this is a subject that will take years before the aftermarket makes parts for our Accents and like the Honda cars of past there is a lot of interchangeability with Kia and Accent that we've just not dug deep enough to see the comparison.

Sorry for the long winded post but I felt this information had to get out.
As a long time poster on the Cavalier, Honda, and Paseo forums of years ago I thought I'd pass this on to those that would take a leap of faith and may make progress for our cars.
I'm sure there will be skeptics but I'll definitely be one to give the springs a try in the very near future. I'm presently between jobs and once back on the road I'll be making purchases to get my Accent the way I want her.

Give this some thought and I'd like to hear what you think.

A couple of side notes if you will.
The Veloster aluminum water pulley will fit our Accents and available from SoCal Garageworks, made by NST. I researched the OEM parts for both and they're identical between the 2012-2016 Veloster and the RB Accent. the water pumps are the same as is their pulley's.

Same is true for the Shifter billet mounting bushings from the Veloster will fit the Accent as will their bronze cable bushings for the cable ends at the transmission.This is something I'll be adding to my Accent and have done so with my Paseo and love the feel of the shifts with the setup.
OEM part numbers are identical for both so they'll work.

I have read similar info over the years, but am more interested now in hearing from those that have actually purchased the Kia parts and how they fit.

So, if you get any of the Kia parts, please come back and let everyone know how they worked.

I've already started work on my Hyundai by adding Corbeau racing seats to the car.
I had these seats in my Paso and used the Corbeau seat sliders in the Accent with some minor fabrication to the rear of the brackets to make it work.
I would show pictures but these forums don't allow large sizes so can't post them up.
But if anyone wants to see any mods to the car I'm on Instagram under the name misnblu2.
The Paseo seat brackets from Corbeau fit the front bolts perfectly and had to add to the rear to make it work.
Once I can find a way to resize pictures I'll post them up.

So here are the modifications made to the Corbeau sliders for the Toyota Paso.

To get a bit off-beat, what is the project with the Paseo? I had a Tercel, and the Paseo is a Tercel with a cool body. IOW, a smooth looking econo car.


What I REALLY wanted to do was get a Paseo in decent shape, pull the 4A-GE engine from my drastically rusting GT-S, wedge it into the Paseo sideways, add some suspension components and turn the Paseo into a car that lived up to it's looks! ;)

I've had the Paseo for 12 years now.
I completely rebuilt it from the suspension to the axles, brakes, stiffened the chassis with a lot of bespoke bracing, and lightened it up to about 1900 pounds without the driver.
I loved that car and was too much fun to drive until it popped a head gasket.
I really don't have time to fix it since I drive a truck all over the country so I gave the car to my best friend so he can fix it and give it to his daughter to learn how to drive a stick.
So now the Hyundai is my next project car but I'm not going extreme with it.
Paseo's are under rated cars and super reliable. Great gas mileage too.

I guess I'm going to take up the thread and hope nobody minds.
I couldn't find any side skirts that fit the Accent so decided to make my own .
It's not as ghetto as it may seem and looks good in my opinion. The J-channel is for vinyl siding and can get at Home Depot or Lowe's. Easy to cut and shape and rigid enough to make it strong and functional .
I used Scotch 30 pound double side adhesive tape as I didn't want to drill holes in the car. This tape is very strong and after a few weeks still doing well with no sags etc.

I also added a front lip (06-07 Impreza WRX STI S204 Front Bumper Lip Pu Urethane) which you can get from Amazon for about 50 bucks.
The only trimming you have to do is cut off the ends as they're too long.
It's very easy to install and easily workable to bend to the shape of the bumper and it looks amazing.

Nice mods ... I love the front lip and the side skirt. Do you intend to paint the side skirt about the same color as the front lip ? I think all flat black would look nice on a white car.


Also 4A-GE engines are lovely. I had that in my mr2 and really loved it. I'm kinda missing the sound of that engine.

Since the sides are white I'm keeping them white. Painting parts invites chips and scratches which looks like crap. ?
Since I removed the black vinyl trim from the b-pillars and doors due to a scratch showing the white underneath the white skirts look good with the monochromatic theme now. ?

I am running the AEM CAI for the Veloster on my 2013 Accent. I did this due to major power loss in the summer in Florida due to heat saturation, It solved that problem for sure .I get a little beter gas mileage as well. I can easily get 40 mpg highway.

Any plan for a rear lip ?
Trunk lip spoiler I've already installed.
Lower rear lip I will probably not worry about it for now.
Shark racing has a nice rear lip but way too expensive. Probably wouldn't match what I now have.

I do plan a car but will fiberglass the AEM cai made for the Veloster. U know it'll fit with the research Ive done on it and prefer the dry filter from AEM. ?

Does anyone have an experience or opinion about Storm springs? Looks like there is an option for our Accent. It's probably been around for years now, but I forgot about it or never heard about it.

Storm springs - good mod, bad as in not worth it, or flat out dangerous? I could be a guinea pig here, but I'd rather ask around to see if anyone has done it first. It's getting to be strut and shock time for Lazy_H. Maybe some tighter springs too, if they're not an accident waiting to happen.

Well there's no specs on the springs, doesn't tell you how much of a drop, and what steel the springs are made of.
Were it me, I'd pass.
