Our 17 Elantra has always had this rattle in the back whenever you go over a fairly large bump. Going over light rail tracks does it, as does larger bumps on the freeway.

It's coming from the back of the cabin, like the rear deck area maybe.

It's metallic sounding, loose metal , a screw/bolt not being tight.

I checked in the spare tire area and the tire is locked down tight and the styrofoam thing seemed snug.

Anyone have an idea or experienced a similar rattle?

thanks

Oddly enough I had a similar noise... Shortly after purchase... Turned out that the rear seat release had been pulled and the back seat was not clicked in fully. Worth a look.. It was not obvious and we had our kids back there and never noticed.

The entire truck is very thin. No noise insulation .. The tire cover thing is supper flimbsy I wonder if I hear it at times. Also check the tow hooks and jack items are firmly in the Styrofoam..
