If you are new to auto-mechanics why not start with basic servicing like oil and filter change rather than messing with things that aren´t broke?
With regards to tyre size, see an alloy wheel site to get an idea of what you can fit. A larger tyre would need a larger width rim or if you go for low profile then you need a bigger diameter rim. Seems a waste of money to me as there is nothing wrong with the standard fitment.
As for raising the suspension, this would make the car less stable and probably invalidate your insurance. Why do you want to raise it?
