Hello everyone, I just wanted to say thanks for having me. Im loving my 2018 Hyundai Elantra SE 2.0 6speed manual. I am really hoping someone can help me figure out how to remove my shift knob. I've searched everywhere on the internet and youtube. There are videos and info on screwing off or pulling off the shift knobs off of former models but nothing for my 2018 Elantra. I have tried everything, even tried using channel locks to screw it off... wouldn't move. Took the boot up and still couldn't get it. Any help would be awesome. I really want to put my threaded 4in shift extension on to the shifter than an aftermarket knob onto it.I had a kia soul with a 6speed manual and same transmission pattern, worked flawless. Im kind of tall and it helps me reach the shifter to change gears. Thanks for any help.

I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra base model w/ the 6 speed manual transmission. The rubber shift knob is actually a separate piece from the chrome reverse lever. The rubber knob is actually just pressed on. It comes off by pulling straight up on it with a good amount of force. This shift rod is not threaded so if you are planning to add a threaded knob you will either need to do some modification to make it work or you will have to upgrade to the Elantra sport shifter assembly which is threaded.

Do you know of any knobs that could be used to replace the 2017's knob without replacing the shifter assembly? Perhaps a selection of knobs of a similar type that Hyundai has? I'm thinking about upgrading to the elantra sport shifter assembly but I haven't found too many sources online to know what parts I need and how I would go about doing that.
