Well, jumping off the deep end into my first transmission repair ever.

Am looking for ideas on how to break the sealant on the side cover. This transmission was supposedly rebuilt at 106K (52K ago) for unknown reasons. Have read every thread I can on it and will be ordering parts tomorrow from WITT. Pulled the 12 bolts off the side cover but it is not giving any indication of coming off easily. So.... what's the trick??

It' off

Using the idea found on the Tiberon rebuild (I think) I hung weight on a wrench shoved under the cover, let it hang overnight and was able to pull the cover the following morning. Remainder of rebuild will be added to sticky in hopes it helps other newbies like myself. :00000732:

just use a steel rod or flathead screwdriver and a rubber mallet. its just sealant :)

check that you have all the bolts, easy to miss one on a first time job.
