03 santa fe with 160k miles. had the timing belt replaced, ran ok for a little while, now the engine is not running smooth, stumbling on acceleration and giving these codes. where do I start?

421 is a catalyst efficiency code, 401 is an egr code. you might have plugged cat, causing your issues.

446 is a generic evap system fault.

pretty unlikely that your tbelt is the issue

Take car of the clogged cat code..

EGR wont work proper if engine cant breath proper via intake and exhaust

0446 leads to a restricted evap canister, but take care of the running issue first, as back preesure in the intake could be pushing back into canister via purge when commanded and goofing the tank pressure values to PCM

p0446,p0421,p0401 and it was the ignition wires?

Computers once again, another reason why this system of codes is crazy, and must drive mechanics crazy as well...

What happened to the good old days................?

A good mechanic, may have replaced the cateylitic converter, the egr valve the fueltank pressure sensor, the fuel filler cap, the rear subframe, the Canister purge valve, the spark plugs, the coils, the crank position sensor, the battery the alternator...

LOL

I reckon, this won't be the last time you see these codes

and after all that the cars are no better now then they were 25 years ago
