My dealer in GA gave up using the solid aluminum washers (they still come in the box though) and recommend using the "crush style" washers like you see on the base of spark plugs. I've been using them for the last 5 or 6 oil changes. Easy to replace and they never seem to leak at all. They also give you one of those for free with a filter purchase.
