I have a 2012 Santa Fe with 47k actual miles. While negotiating at the dealer on a new car, we find out the Carfax data is wrong. While I was living in Tennessee, a dealer in Milwaukee mistakenly used my vin, three times in 2014, when performing service on some other car. The dealer is now out of business. Thus, the carfax makes it appear that I “turned back the odometer”, and therefore the cars value is greatly dimished in the dealers eyes. I plotted the milage vs time ...15 data points....for the life of the car using carfax data and it is clearly a mistake. Question is, cannot the dealer hook up to the computer and see that the milage shown is correct? Any ideas on how to get this fixed? Dealer and corporate sorta shrug so far. This is beyond stupid.

It's a long and can be expensive process to get a carfax changed. I would sell it privately.
