hi to all. have a 2004 elantra g4gc engine .which has noisey timing chain on o/drive [back off throttle] have took both cams and tensioner off engine and have dismantled the tensioner which shows piston and bore wear i suspect it is not holding oil pressure and bypassing oil out the end of the piston therebye causing slack chain. any suggestions or help would be appreciated. is it possible that the vvt unit could be causing loose chain somehow, i would think the tensioners job is to do just that hold the chain tight.
