Has anyone else noticed a slight noise in the dash up around the dash speaker on the passenger side? If i drive down any road that's not perfectly smooth, I hear the noise every time i hit the slightest bump. It sounds like 2 pieces of plastic rubbing together.

I got the car 5 days ago and really started noticing it 2 days ago when the wife was with me and I had the radio turned off. I'm thinking about taking it back to the dealership and have them take a look at it because it's a brand new car and really shouldn't be making ANY noises, no matter how slight.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has this problem, and if they've done anything to correct it.

Do people think a SUB $30K car is going to have no road noise or noises coming from the car? Any car you buy in this price range will have these issues.
agreed...my $50k Lexus GS400 had rattles......my $90k 07 750Li had rattles (BAD ONES AT THAT!!!)

I still think people on this site swear they bought bentleys for $30k the way they describe "normal" issues (and i'd bet for any amount of money, even bentleys rattle)

How many cars have you bought below 30k? I've bought a ford, chevy, mazda, pontiac, mitsubishi and 2 hondas before this car and none of those had noises like this from the very beginning, and most of those were below $20k. I still have the pontiac torrent (wife), since 2007, and it still doesn't have interior squeaks or rattles.

This is not road noise, but as someone pointed out, it's a noise coming from the glove box. Removing the weight of the owners manual seems to have made the noise go away which makes me feel a "little" better, but now I have to limit what I put in my glove box?

All my cars have been sub $40K and they all over time have rattles but they come and go. Ever road is different and even with temperature materials move and change. I think this car has way less noise then my Grand Cherokee has.

I only have the noise coming from the window. One day I will take it in to the dealer and have them really f*** it up when I complain about the wind noise which I have determined to be the window and frame and not the mirror.

"Noise Coming From Passenger Side Dash."

Hmmm...

I often have a noise coming from the passenger side seat.

Maybe it's best we not go there.

I have an SE and I had the same rattle on the front passenger side. There are two issues:

1) the glove box is not completely tight against the lower dash. This is compounded by the heavy owner's manual.

2) a second rattle comes from the plastic piston that holds the glove box. If you look behind the box, you will see that it can move slightly and driving over rough pavement will cause it to rattle.

I took my sonata in to be tightened. They gave me a loaner GLS Sonata and it had the same issue. The rattle wasn't as bad, so I attributed that to the different suspension system.

The dealer tightened everything and I would say the the rattle is 95% gone.

I had a noise as well and swore it was coming from up by the sunroof or the right side of the dash somewhere. I traced it to a cell phone charging cable in the center console cubby hole, when I opened its door, I saw it was rubbing/rattling in there. Took it out and all was well.

I also removed the heavy manual from the glove box as that was causing a noise early on.

I feel like a couple of people are being a little rude and condescending on this issue. It is not road noise people are hearing and they are not making it up or being over dramatic. When you have a squeak in your car and drive a lot you notice things like that and it drives you crazy. You should not act like people are expecting a 60k car for under 30k. I love my Sonata and I know it is not the E500 MB I had before but when I had a squeak on that they fixed it and if I have a noise on the sunroof of the sonata I expect it to be fixed. Whether the car cost 75k or 30k I am their customer and I am the reason they are in business. Without customers there is no business. Acting like a noise or any other abnormality is "normal" is not the answer to customer service. People tend to forget these days that the customer is always right.
If you don't have the noise problem, congratulations, but don't be rude to those that do.
I do have a similar issue on my car near the sunroof when it is closed. It happens on bumpy roads or shortly after driving on them. If I open and reclose the sunroof cover hard it usually goes away but not always. It is not something that I would bring the car in for because it does not happen all the time, but since I have an appointment for them to look at other things I will have it checked out.
Hope everyone with this issue gets it resolved quickly and has peace and quiet soon.

Rattles bug me too. I do understand that they're a fact of life, and our bumpy roads slowly loosen up the best built cars. As far as other people in this thread being a little harsh; I think the statute of limitations has expried. The last entry before yours was almost 21 months ago. (but point well taken)
