Nextel And Bluetooth

I have a Nextel phone with Direct Connect. The direct connect portion will not work with the Bluetooth. It did work with the Bluetooth in my previous Honda Accord. Anyone else having this problem and maybe found a workaround by getting the direct connect portion working without having to turn off the Bluetooth? The phone is work issued, so I have to carry it with me, but I don't want to have to disable the Bluetooth as I like it for regular incoming calls. To make it even worse, when the phone does connect with the Bluetooth it totally disables my direct connect, so I can't even receive a direct connect call directly on the phone either.
