I am considering changing the oil / filter at about 4000 miles. (from new). Whilst it may not be necessary it does seem a reasonably good idea.

So what type is a new I10 filled with. Fully Synthetic?

The book says 5W30 which is usually semi or full synt. However on my last service the car was filled with 10W30 semi.

Shell Helix is what they use. And depending on what time of year it is (cold/hot weather) dictates on what they will put in your engine. But it's minly Semi-Synthetic although I don't see what the problem is using fully synthetic so long as you don't mix the grades.
