I have a 2002 elantra gt and I recently took it to Auto zone to see why check engine light is on. When they hooked up their diagnostic tool it says not recognized or plug in when it is plugged in, its like the computer isnt being recognized which causes the car to run crappy at best. Any help would be appreciated

Take a voltage meter and determine if your charging system is working good. First check the battery with motor off, you should have 12.5 to 13 volts. Then start the motor and turn on all the lights, fan, wipers, etc and see if you've still got 13 volts. If not, you have a voltage problem or the battery is dying. Autozone will also check your charging system for free if you don't want to do it.

Inspect fuse #25 in the passenger compartment fuse block... it supply power to DLC, or you have "K" line malf from DLC to PCM..
