Hi,

This is my first port at this forum.

I have a 1999 Elantra 2.0 with AT and 162Kmi that I bought for my son. The car runs great (knock on wood!) but it has a check engine light ON. We plugged in a Genesis scanner and got a code P0740 - Damper Clutch Control Valve problem. I checked the impedance on the coil and it's shorted. So, I have never worked on a automatic tranny but I'm mentally ready to jump on it.

So, I have a few questions regarding the valve body:
1. How to remove it?
2. When removing, is something going to "jump out" or fall appart?
3. Is there any hydraulic connections to the valve body?
4. From the diagrams I have, it doesn't seem like there isn't to much problem to remove the damaged valve. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hasta...
